Designer notes:

This design started with a picture of a katydid I saw on Reddit of all places. It had a vivid green carapace and glossy red eyes. The striking contrast of the green and red colors stuck with me. I tried to find the photo again afterwards but I was never able to; it led me to look for more pictures on the internet which was where I found that nature apparently loves that red and green combo.

I was looking for an inspiration of how to put it on a watch dial and I eventually found it on a red eyed tree frog, which is where the eyes at 10 and 2 come from. The animal changed but I decided to keep the name.

The hard part was getting the idea into the watch. The first test watch that came back was all wrong and the colours were hard to match. We did quite a few revisions but nothing felt right.
I ended up shelving the project for a year before getting a second wind. Bit by bit, the watch came together and this became the final rendition.
