A short bio
Background
As a British Hongkonger, I’m the last of a kind. My grandparents fled south at the end of two terrible wars and established themselves here. They and their fellow refugees formed a little conclave where most were engaged in the mercantile business. By and large they mostly prospered and we were the heirs to their success. But time flies like an arrow and British Hong Kong has both bloomed and faded.
Me
I spent most of my life as an independent industrial designer which was fulfilling personally and professionally – but it wasn’t enough. At 63, I now find myself in autumn and reluctant to slow down. I decided to embark on a new project.
Project
I’ve always loved art; I love how shapes, colour and texture combine together in a form that’s pleasing to the eye. I had been steadily injecting small personal touches of art into my design work, I now have a chance to combine those touches in a stand alone piece in the form of wrist watches, combining my love of art, my wrist watch hobby and utilizing my work experience and local connections.
Watches
On this website you’ll find watches designed by me along with original artwork I’ve painted myself. The watch body is made to my specs – I’m starting off with a diver. But the heart of the project lies in the dial designs. The designs come from things I’ve experienced, things I’ve seen: events, nature, kitsch, memes – but they aren’t just designs to me, they’re fragments of memory which I have deemed dial worthy. The themes are by no means original but the designs and art are my own. I hope you will enjoy them as much as I do.
